Body found inside burned Carroll County home | News

Firefighters found the body of a man inside his burned Carroll County, Illinois home.

Fire was reported Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1040 Vine Street, just outside the Savanna city limits.  First responders were sent from Savanna, Thomson, Mt. Carroll, Sabula and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.

Carroll County Sheriff Jeff Doran said the body of the homeowner, Martin Hansen, was found inside the home.  A statement from the sheriff’s department said Mr. Hansen was 82 years old; a family member said he was 79 years old.

The cause of the fire and Mr. Hansen’s death remained under investigation.
